Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bans School Picnics and Study Tours

Peshawar – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially banned school picnics, educational trips, and study tours across the province until further notice. The decision aims to ensure student safety and maintain focus on academic activities amid growing concerns over travel-related risks and safety incidents.

According to the KP School Education Department, the ban applies to all public and private educational institutions, including primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools. Authorities cited concerns over traffic accidents, security challenges, and potential health hazards as primary reasons behind the prohibition. Schools are instructed to refrain from organizing any extracurricular trips outside their campuses.

“The safety of students is our top priority. By temporarily suspending school trips, we aim to prevent accidents and ensure that students remain in a secure and supervised environment,” said a senior education official. Authorities emphasized that curricular activities should continue within school premises and that teachers are encouraged to conduct interactive and engaging classroom sessions.

Parents and school administrators have been notified to comply with the directive and avoid organizing any unofficial trips. The education department also plans to review the situation periodically and may lift the ban once safety conditions improve and risk factors are mitigated.

Educationists have expressed mixed reactions, acknowledging the importance of student safety but also noting that study tours provide valuable experiential learning opportunities. Officials assured that alternative in-school activities and virtual learning options could be considered to compensate for the temporary suspension of trips.
