Pakistan, Azerbaijan to Formalise $2 Billion Investment Deal in April: PM Shehbaz

Islamabad – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Pakistan and Azerbaijan are set to formalize a $2 billion investment agreement in April, describing the deal as “mutually beneficial” for both countries. The agreement is expected to bolster economic cooperation, enhance bilateral trade, and create job opportunities across multiple sectors.

According to the Prime Minister’s office, discussions between the two governments have been ongoing for several months, focusing on energy, infrastructure, technology, and industrial development. The investment is anticipated to fund large-scale projects, including energy generation, transportation networks, and industrial zones, which will contribute to Pakistan’s economic growth and Azerbaijan’s strategic partnerships in South Asia.

PM Shehbaz emphasized that the agreement reflects Pakistan’s commitment to fostering strong international relations and attracting foreign investment to support sustainable development. “This partnership with Azerbaijan is a significant milestone, creating avenues for economic growth, employment, and technological collaboration,” he stated during a press briefing.

Economic analysts have noted that foreign direct investment of this magnitude can strengthen Pakistan’s balance of payments, enhance infrastructure development, and encourage private sector participation. Officials are coordinating with relevant ministries to ensure that the projects are executed transparently and efficiently, with long-term benefits for both nations.

The announcement also underscores Pakistan’s broader diplomatic strategy to deepen ties with regional partners, leverage investment opportunities, and promote stability and prosperity through collaborative economic initiatives.
