LAHORE web desk ..Punjabβs Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari made surprise visits to several theaters in Lahore, including Mehfil Theatre, Prince Theatre, and Tamaseel Theatre. She scrutinized cafeterias, dressing rooms, and halls during these inspections to evaluate their conditions.
Expressing dissatisfaction with cleanliness and administrative issues, Minister Bokhari also voiced concerns about βinappropriateβ songs and the βindecentβ attire of female performers. She emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards vulgarity and obscenity in Punjabβs theatres. Following her visits, show-cause notices were issued to actors Sajan Abbas, Neeli, Saima Khan, Nayab Khan, and Sonu Butt.
Ms. Bokhari warned of a potential lifetime ban for any performer who violates future SOPs. She also criticized the Punjab Arts Councilβs performance, urging all stakeholders to take responsibility for improving the theatre environment.
