Military Conflict Between Two Nuclear States Is Sheer Stupidity: DG ISPR
Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Major General Ahmed Sharif, warned that any military conflict between two nuclear-armed states would be catastrophic and described it as “sheer stupidity.” Speaking at a press briefing, he emphasized the importance of diplomacy, dialogue, and restraint in resolving disputes to prevent large-scale devastation.
The DG ISPR highlighted that Pakistan remains committed to peace in the region but will continue to strengthen its defense capabilities to deter any aggression. “Our focus is on defensive readiness, strategic stability, and protecting our sovereignty,” he stated, while stressing that escalation must always be avoided for the safety of millions of people.
He also pointed out that history has shown the grave consequences of armed confrontations between nuclear nations, urging global powers and regional players to encourage negotiations rather than military posturing. The statement comes amid rising tensions in South Asia, where analysts have repeatedly called for restraint and conflict resolution through diplomatic channels.
The DG ISPR’s remarks were widely welcomed by political analysts and peace advocates, who reiterated that dialogue and engagement remain the only viable solutions to prevent escalation. He concluded by stressing that Pakistan’s defense remains robust, but the priority is always to maintain peace and stability in the region.
