British Council and SELD Sindh Launch EaSTE Programme for Teachers

The British Council, in collaboration with the School Education & Literacy Department (SELD) Sindh, has launched the English as a Subject for Teachers & Educators (EaSTE) Programme in the province. The initiative aims to enhance English teaching skills and improve language proficiency among educators in Sindh’s schools.

The programme will provide comprehensive training, workshops, and resources to help teachers effectively deliver English lessons, adopt modern pedagogical techniques, and engage students more interactively. Officials emphasized that improving English language instruction is critical for boosting overall academic outcomes and preparing students for global opportunities.

SELD Sindh and British Council representatives highlighted that EaSTE also includes mentoring, classroom support, and assessment tools to ensure continuous improvement. The programme targets both in-service teachers and new educators, promoting a culture of professional development and lifelong learning.

Education experts welcomed the initiative, noting that strengthening teachers’ capacities directly impacts student learning, literacy rates, and overall educational quality. The launch reflects ongoing efforts to modernize Sindh’s education system and equip teachers with the necessary skills for 21st-century classrooms.
