Special Assistant Ikramuddin has strongly condemned the recent attack on Wana Cadet College, calling it a cowardly act aimed at destabilising peace in the region and undermining the future of the youth studying there. His statement reflects the deep concern shared by government officials, local communities, and security agencies regarding the renewed attempts by anti-state elements to spread fear in South Waziristan.
In his remarks, Ikramuddin expressed serious grief over the incident and extended heartfelt sympathies to the families of students, faculty members, and staff affected by the attack. According to him, targeting an educational institution is not only an assault on innocent lives but also an attack on the country’s commitment to progress and stability. He noted that cadet colleges, especially in merged districts, have played a crucial role in guiding young people towards discipline, education, and national service. Any aggression against these institutions is therefore a direct strike against Pakistan’s future.
The Special Assistant acknowledged the bravery and quick response of the security personnel who ensured that the situation did not escalate further. Their prompt action, he said, demonstrated the state’s readiness to protect its citizens and safeguard national installations. He further assured that the attackers would be brought to justice and that the government would not allow any group to reverse the peace efforts achieved after years of sacrifice.
Ikramuddin emphasised that the people of Wana and the broader tribal belt have endured decades of conflict, displacement, and insecurity. Despite these challenges, the locals have consistently supported the state and shown resilience in rebuilding their communities. He stressed that the recent attack was a deliberate attempt to discourage this spirit of unity and progress. However, he reaffirmed that such tactics would not succeed, as the people of the region remain committed to peace and development.
He also called for strengthening security measures around all educational institutions, especially in sensitive areas. According to him, a safe learning environment is essential to ensuring that the youth stay focused on their education and do not fall victim to fear or misinformation. He urged administration officials and local authorities to work closely with community members to report suspicious activities and maintain vigilance.
The attack, he noted, highlights the importance of continued investment in both security and social development. Ikramuddin stated that the government remains determined to improve the economic and educational landscape of South Waziristan so that extremist elements find no space to operate. Projects focused on road networks, internet connectivity, sports facilities, and higher education have already brought noticeable improvements, and more initiatives are being planned. He expressed confidence that with collective effort and strong governance, the region will continue moving towards lasting peace.
In addition, the Special Assistant appealed to political leaders and media representatives to avoid divisive narratives and instead support national solidarity during such sensitive times. He underlined that unity is the strongest weapon against those who wish to disrupt harmony. By standing together and supporting the victims, the nation can send a clear message that violence will not achieve anything.
Ikramuddin praised the resilience of the cadet college students, many of whom continued to support each other even amid chaos. He said their courage demonstrates that Pakistan’s youth are determined to rise above fear and pursue their dreams despite challenges. He assured the staff and families that the government is fully committed to their safety and will provide all necessary assistance to help the institution recover from the incident.
The condemnation by Special Assistant Ikramuddin carries weight at a time when Pakistan is striving to maintain stability in regions that have long been affected by militancy. His response reflects a broader national sentiment—rejecting violence, supporting education, and standing firm against those who attempt to hinder development. As investigations continue, his message serves as a reminder that the country remains united in refusing to bow before terrorism, and that the path to progress will continue with even greater determination.
