Thousands gather across the capital to mark a day of sacrifice, reflection, and joy
On 6 June 2025, Muslims across London celebrated Eid-ul-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, with early morning prayers, heartfelt charity, and lively community gatherings — transforming parks, mosques, and homes into spaces of spiritual connection and shared joy. 🌍💞
From Regent’s Park Mosque to Wembley Stadium grounds, and local community halls to open-air Eid prayers in Ilford, Southall, and Newham, the city came alive in a mosaic of colour, culture, and compassion. 🎉🕌🇬🇧
🕋 What Is Eid-ul-Adha?
Eid-ul-Adha, the second of two major Islamic holidays, commemorates the Prophet Ibrahim’s (AS) devotion and willingness to sacrifice — a story of faith and submission.
It also marks the culmination of the Hajj pilgrimage to Makkah, one of the five pillars of Islam. 🌙✈️
On this day, Muslims:
🐐 Perform Qurbani, the ritual sacrifice of livestock, with meat distributed to the poor
🙏 Begin the day with special Eid prayers
🫂 Gather with family and friends for meals, reflection, and generosity
💷 Donate to charity, ensuring everyone shares in the celebration
