Rawalpindi to Get 98 New Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics

The Punjab government has decided to outsource Basic Health Units (BHUs) and Rural Health Centres (RHCs) across all 37 districts, including Rawalpindi, under the newly established Maryam Nawaz Health Clinics (MNHC). This move aims to improve healthcare services while restructuring staffing arrangements.

Under the plan, regular employees at these centers will be transferred to other government hospitals once new staff is recruited. Non-regular staff will be regularized, while employees working on specific health projects will be let go upon project completion.

A meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department Punjab confirmed that the outsourcing process will continue under the District Health Authorities (DHAs). As part of the initiative, health centers will be renovated before being outsourced and rebranded as MNHCs.

In Rawalpindi, seven BHUs and RHCs have already been outsourced in the first phase, with 20 more to follow. Eventually, 98 clinics will operate across the district, providing free healthcare services.

Dr. Asif Arbab Niazi, CEO of Rawalpindi DHA, stated that these clinics will reduce the burden on major hospitals, ensuring better medical care for the public.
